Yummy Banana
I had my first taste of Banana on Friday night. Tonight (Sunday) I really enjoyed it and grizzled when Dad took too long to give me more.

First week of daycare
Well - we survived.
On Monday morning we dropped Alex off at 10am and picked him up at 1pm. Apart from the fact that he didn't drink from the bottle, he had a good time. I think it was worst for Mum and Dad. We were a bit lost without him around. The downside of him not drinking was that he was starving when he got home and so he was up half the night catching up (and possibly because of jet-lag). It was pretty tough on us.
Tuesday, he was there from 10am to 3pm and managed to drink a little (only about 20mls). He was dead tired when he got home and slept from about 4pm. Once again, he was up half the night because he was hungry, and because he'd gone to bed so early!
Wednesday he stayed until 5pm and drank about 100mls. He stayed up a little later, and the night was a little better.
Thursday his drinking improved again and on Friday he had almost 300mls. He went to bed at a "normal" time and only woke up in the night to feed, then pretty much straight back to sleep. I hope that the worst is over!
The people at daycare have been very nice. Here are the comments out of his diary.
Monday - Dear Alex. Today was your first day. You slept well, but did not want to eat. You will get used to being here soon. You had a good but short day here.
Tuesday - Dear Alex. It is better today with your eating. You find all the new toys very exciting, and you also seem to relax more with the older children and with me. You slept twice today.
Wednesday - Dear Alex. Today you wanted to eat a little bit and you were happy playing on the ground on a blanket. You had a good day.
Thursday - Dear Alex. I think you are getting more used to me and the place. You slept well and I can get food in you which makes me very happy. You are very good at playing on the ground with toys.
Friday - Dear Alex. You slept well this morning and after your sleep you were happy. Your first bottle was finished in parts and your second almost finished at once.

All I want for Christmas ....
Duncan and I didn't realise that Alex was teething, he had been drooling for a long time and was a bit grumpy, but we thought that was just a combination of the travel, jetlag and cold that he and I had when we arrived in New Zealand.
But, we woke up on Boxing Day, and as Alex was chewing on Nana's finger, she realised that she could feel a tooth on Alex's bottom gum. We all rushed to look and could see a tiny bit of white. The next day a second tooth appeared.
This is a pretty bad picture, because it's out of focus, but you can see the teeth down the bottom.

Christmas Pictures
Here we are enjoying Christmas Day. Nana got Alex a Jolly Jumper which he loves. The funny thing is he was playing in the one that had been loaned to us, when we opened his present!!

Of course it is possible that he loved the wrapping paper just as much!

All tuckered out

Back in Holland
Hello and Happy New Year!! Well, we're back in Holland after having had a fantastic time in NZ. We spent most of the time just relaxing and visiting friends and family and showing off Alex of course! It was great.
The weather was great - nice and warm without being too hot. We went to the beach and had lots of BBQ's. Even though we tried to keep Alex out of the sun, he managed to get brown hands and cheeks.
Our big milestone for Alex was that he got two front teeth. One on Boxing Day and one the day after. He and I both had a terrible cold before Christmas, so that masked any teething issues that he might have had. It will be interesting to see how we get on next time.
Unfortunately we're now suffering from Jetlag. The first night wasn't too bad, but the last two have been pretty hellish. He's been going to sleep too early (around 5pm) and then waking at 2am thinking it's morning. Hopefully it will work its-self out before I have to go back to work next week.
