What a week!!
We're sitting here wondering why we're bothering with Daycare.
Monday - Alex got a fever, we were called at about 2pm, but he was given panadol and was able to stay until the end of the day.
Tuesday - Alex had had a fever all night, so Mum stayed home with him. By night-time the fever had gone.
Wednesday - Alex was fine in the morning so we took him to daycare. We got a call in the afternoon again - he had another fever.
Thursday - We decided that maybe there was more to the fever than teething so took Alex to the Dr. His appointment was at 8.15am and she could find nothing wrong so Duncan took him to daycare. He was turned away on the doorstep - even though we'd just been to the Dr, they wouldn't accept him so Dad had to stay home. They had a great day - no problems.
Friday - Alex had a bad night - lots of painful crying so Duncan decided to stay home with him again. They had another good day.
That means after being back at work for five weeks - we've used five of our fourteen days available for looking after Alex. All our other sick leave will have to be certified and if we need more days for Alex, we'll have to take Annual Leave or Leave without Pay.
You can't really see anything - but there are definitely teeth coming - four on the top!

Teething?
Today Alex didn't go to daycare so Mum stayed home with him. He's had a fever for the last 24 hours and has generally just been a bit sad and quiet. It's all a bit confusing because once again he has a cold (he's pretty much had it since we got back from NZ) but I'm pretty sure that I can see a new tooth in the top (an incisor). Also, he's been playing with his mouth as though he can feel something new too.

Almost 6 Month Consultatie Bureau Visit
We had our first visit since before we went to NZ. Alex now weighs 8.125 kg and is 68.5cm long. He hasn't put on a lot of weight in the last two months, but he's still on the "average" curve so we don't need to worry. The Dr suggested that he should be eating more fruit and veggies, so we're going to start sending him off to daycare with food for morning tea or lunch. Otherwise, all is good.
