Oliver's impromptu weight check and hearing test
Because Oliver hadn't gained back his birth weight by the time the Kraamzorg left, I was interested to find out how he was doing. The Consultatie Bureau has a "walk-in" clinic on Friday mornings, so I packed up and was out of the house by about 9.30am .... a record!
The good news is that he has gained weight ... now 4.6kg (a day before 3 weeks). He was 4.4 at birth, dropped to 4.1 a couple of days later, and was up to 4.3 by about 9 days. I don't think he's gaining as fast as Alex did, but he did start off a whole kg ahead. They also did an "accurate" measure of his length ... 55cm ... which is what the midwife had estimated when he was born (he just did it with a tape measure rather than the proper measuring board that the Consultatie Bureau use).
While we were there, I asked why our hearing test was at a different Consultatie Bureau. I was pleasantly surprised to actually receive some real service from the Dutch - they were kind enough to squeeze us in for a test right then and there so that we wouldn't have to make a seperate trip to a different office across town. How nice! Oh ... and the result? Perfect hearing!
