The rest of Alex's week

Poor Alex had a dreadful start to life as a big brother, and poor Dad didn't have a great time either. After his first vomiting episode on Sunday night / Monday morning, Alex was intermittently sick until Wednesday morning. Between a new baby and a sick toddler, our washing machine was running constantly and we had every single sheet and towel in use.

A sick Alex meant that Dad had to spend the whole day looking after him while Mum looked after Oliver. When Alex was born, Mum didn't change a nappy for the first two weeks, but this time around it was a different story. Poor Dad was exhausted because Alex was miserable and needed a LOT of attention.

Luckily we had the Kraamzorg to help with Oliver and they also helped a lot with the washing and doing some shopping so that Dad could concentrate on looking after Alex.

Thursday morning we decided to try daycare again because he seemed a lot better but we received a call around 1pm saying he needed to be picked up. He was exhausted ... basically because he hadn't kept anything down since the weekend.

We kept him home again on Friday, even though again he seemed better and hadn't been sick. It was a better day, but he still obviously didn't feel great. Friday night we were shocked when he was sick again. We hoped that it was due to eating too much, because he had been snacking all day and then ate a relatively large dinner.

The weekend went well and there was no more sickness. Thank goodness! Monday, Alex was back at daycare and has been fine ever since.
